Did you know that the Market operates primarily off of the stall fees of our farmers and artisans? Thanks to strong partnerships with local non-profits, chefs, and the Town of Carrboro and to a dedicated network of volunteers, we have been a flagship Market for the state, despite a modest budget. We've led the way with our special events and programming - regularly working to make the Market and fresh and healthy food accessible to our community.
In 2014, we launched our Market Perennial Program, offering an opportunity for our shoppers to invest in the future of the Market by making recurring or one-time contributions. The funds from the Market Perennial Program have already made a tremendous impact, increasing our staff hours, allowing us to expand our youth programming to include free kids cooking classes and a kids club, and expanding our outreach to under-served community groups.

Market Bunch provides a weekly opportunity for local kids to become familiar with local food systems and gives a space for kids to interact with farmers, try seasonal foods, and learn about local farms.
Market Bunch operates every Wednesday market during the main season. Kids participate in activities and can receive coupons for their participation. These activities include educational games, tasting new fruits and vegetables, and activities that encourage them to interact with local farmers, food, and agriculture. We also host different local chefs who prepare kid-friendly dishes with seasonal produce and provide recipes for families to take home.

We hold several engaging signature special events throughout the year, including Tomato Day, Strawberry Jamboree, and Carrboro Cookout, to name a few. These events feature and celebrate seasonal products that can be found at the Market, educating the community and supporting farmers.

Our Double Bucks food access program provides a dollar-for-dollar match for SNAP/EBT and NC Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits, as well as Cash Match for e-WIC and housing voucher recipients, allowing participating families to double their purchasing power at our market. This has been a highly successful program, supporting broader community members and farmers alike. Double Bucks relies on private and public donations to operate, and community support is needed now more than ever.
