APPLY TO SELL AT CFM

The Carrboro Farmers’ Market is currently not accepting new applications.

We encourage all interested applicants to read through the Market’s By-Laws, Rules, and Board Guidelines before submitting an application.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Businesses applying to the Market must be the original producer or grower of the products they plan to sell.  (CFM By-Laws Section 2A)

  • The business’s production location must be within a 50-mile radius of Carrboro Farmers’ Market. (CFM By-Laws Section 2B)

  • Businesses applying to the Market must have the required NCDA or county inspections. (CFM Rule Section 2 #3)

  • The business owner must be able to attend the Market during their first year as a Market member. First-year members may not send substitutes in their place. (CFM Rules Section 3 #8aii)

WHO CAN APPLY

FARMERS - Established farms growing and selling their own fresh and value-added farm products. 

GUEST VENDOR PROGRAM

PREPARED FOODS -  Local businesses making prepared foods that have a demonstrated history of sourcing their ingredients locally. 

ARTISAN CRAFTS -  Hand-crafted with home- or cottage-scale production using intermediate techniques rather than industrial manufacturing practices


APPLICATION PERIOD

All eligible businesses must apply to sell at CFM. If you apply as a member, you may be recommended for the Guest Vendor program, and your application will be re-evaluated.

Businesses selling highly desired specialty items that complement the Market’s current offerings are eligible to apply to be guest vendors at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market. Prepared food applicants must demonstrate a history of using locally sourced ingredients to be considered. All guest vendors are responsible for following all applicable health department guidelines to ensure food safety.

Guest Vendors do not pay the annual membership dues ($100) and do not have voting rights.

FAQ

  • CFM requires all Prepared Food to be prepared in a kitchen or facility certified by the appropriate agency for the product (FDA, NCDA, Health Dept, NCABC, USDA.) Current ServSafe certification is recommended for all vendors’ kitchens. In addition to complying with applicable state and federal regulations, products must be labeled in compliance with CFM rules and regulations.

    In addition, meat farmers should have their Meat and Poultry Handler Registration through the NCDA. Businesses selling acidified foods should have their products tested through NC State.  

  • The Guest Vendor program is for businesses selling highly desired products not already represented at the Market. Businesses selling farm and value-added products should apply as a Member. Businesses applying to become Members may also be recommended to the Guest Vendor program, and the application will be reconsidered among Guest Vendor applicants.

  • All products sold at the Carrboro Farmers Market must be made or grown by the business applying. Please note that resellers are ineligible and will not be considered.

  • We do not offer drop-in schedules. All businesses must apply and be approved to sell at CFM. Please note that businesses are not required to attend the Market every weekend. 

  • We are not able to offer space for outside agencies, community organizations/projects, or nonprofits to table at the Market. We have limited space and capacity to schedule these groups, and our focus is on promoting our local farmers and vendors. However, you can support the market by sponsoring our wide variety of special events. 


  • We typically review applications the month after applications close. We aim to finalize all approvals by mid-February. Keep an eye on your email (including spam folders) for updates!
