Sunset Ridge Bison Ranch is a family‑run operation led by Mark and Sheryle Dirks, who raise grass‑fed bison on their pastures near Roxboro, North Carolina. They took the reins of Sunset Ridge in 2025, continuing the tradition begun by Jack and Sandy Pleasant in 2001.
Their journey started in 2015, when Mark first met Jack and started volunteering on the farm. By 2017, Mark and Sheryle had purchased their first animals — all while raising their sons and continuing their full‑time careers.
Today, they remain committed to stewarding the land and their animals in a sustainable, ethical way and to providing premium bison that is natural, healthy, and delicious. Visit them at the market to take home something special — from steaks and roasts to burgers, ground, sausages, jerky, and more.
Production Practices - All Sunset Ridge products come from their herd of North American bison and are raised on grass and hay without growth hormones or routine antibiotics. When antibiotics are used, it is only in cases where they are essential to preserve an animal’s life or eyesight. All meat is processed at a USDA‑inspected facility in central North Carolina.
Sunset Ridge attends the Saturday Market year‑round, typically 1–2 times per month.
