11th Annual Kids' Seedling Giveaway with Fifth Season

Flowers are not the only thing blooming at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market!  On April 30th, farmers and Fifth Season Gardening Company will do their bit to help grow budding gardeners by giving away a tomato seedling to any kid who comes to the Market.  The Kids’ Seedling Giveaway has become an annual tradition at the Market and will continue for the 11th year this spring.

Starting at 8:30am and continuing while supplies last, any kid who comes to Market can get a free tomato seedling to pot and take home.  Fifth Season will be there providing potting soil and helping kids pick a tomato variety and plant their seedling, and Kidzu Children’s Museum will help kids decorate their planting cups and seedling labels.  Market volunteers will help kids write a thank-you note to drop off with their donor farmer. From 9:30 to 11:30, kids can hear, sing and dance along to kids’ songs by veteran educator and multi-instrumentalist Tim Wells.

This event isn’t just for the kids!  Fifth Season will also have perks for the rest of us grown-ups, with a rain barrel raffle, coupons for 10% off anything in their store, and bumper stickers.
