Products: Annuals, perennials, house plants, wildflowers, culinary and medicinal plants, composted goat manure, cut flowers, persimmons, Jerusalem artichoke gourds, etc.
CSA? No
Farmland: 12 acres, north of Hillsborough, NC
People: Wilma Hanton
Wilma started selling in Carrboro 33 years ago, three years before the market was even organized! As she grew up in the Midwest, she helped her family in growing nearly all of their own food. She says she made her first gardening mistake when she was two, as she pulled up her mother’s pine tree plants instead of the ragweed she found more interesting. After 21 years in the Biology Department at UNC, she is back to gardening full-time.
