Pollinator Day!

Stop by the market on June 13th and get a double bonus! You’ll find the normal bountiful harvest from all the market vendors, and in addition, some special treats to celebrate pollinators (all those amazing creatures that visit flowering plants and help them reproduce) and pollinator habitat. Pollination truly is responsible for the beauty and abundance of the plant world, and what better way to spend a Saturday morning than appreciating the people working in harmony with nature and the magical little beings and splendid flowers and fruits that feed us in so many ways. Carrboro became the 3rd Bee City USA town in the country last year, and this inaugural event is part of what will become an annual tradition. The gazebo at the market will host a demonstration honeybee hive, a native bee nest being built, and local folks working on behalf of pollinators. Take the “Pollinator Pledge”. Put your name in a hat for a drawing of pollinator-themed prizes. The event is being sponsored by the Carrboro Market along with the Carrboro Environmental Advisory Board, and is timed to coincide with National Pollinator Week.
