Homestead Harvest Farm
Wake Forest, NC - Homestead Harvest Farm is a family owned, 20 acre farm that raises chickens, ducks, turkeys, and pigs. We sell chicken and duck eggs as well as meat from all the animals. We use only non-GMO feeds and do not use any antibiotics, herbicides or pesticides on the property. All the animals on the farm free range once they are big enough to escape the hawk. We bring fresh chicken every week to the market, fresh turkey during the holidays, and frozen meat and eggs at all times. Jan Campbell is the head chick and does all the poultry processing on site under the NC poultry exemption rule. She has been farming and selling products at local farmer's markets since 2007. Jan's educational background is in Biology and she spent her career before children working in Oncology research at Johns Hopkins and Duke. When the children became school age she began using her background in an attempt to find ways to raise healthy animals rather than continuing to research why things/people were sick and dying. Yearly we raise 4-6 pigs, 700 chickens for meat, 50 ducks for meat, and 50-100 turkeys for the holidays with a constant flock of 120 laying chickens, and 50 laying ducks for eggs.

Growing Practices: We use only non-GMO feeds and do not use any antibiotics, herbicides or pesticides on the property. All the animals on the farm free range once they are big enough to escape the hawk. The pigs are rotated through 1 acre paddocks with pasture and woods. We have 4 paddocks that the pigs cycle through depending on the time it takes for the land vegetation to recover. They spend on average 2 months per paddock.The pigs are taken to a USDA approved processing plant for slaughter and packaging. The poultry is all processed onsite and packaged in shrink wrap bags. We take fresh chicken to the market on ice and frozen meats are transported in coolers.
